Caroline Frey graduated in 2002 from the Vetsuisse faculty in Bern, and received a PhD in 2006. From April 2006 she has served as head of veterinary parasitology at the Institute of Parasitology in Bern. In 2009 she obtained a specialisation in veterinary parasitology from the Society of Swiss veterinarians and in 2011 she successfully passed the European Veterinary Parasitology College exams. In 2014 she did her habilitation at Vetsuisse Bern. The Institute of Parasitology includes a reference laboratory for trichinellosis (amongst other) which she also leads. Dr. Frey actively participates in research on Trichinella, organises a yearly ring trial for Swiss laboratories, participates in international ring trials and performs validations of new tests for industry.
