Successful media optimization depends on understanding data, specifically how each media component influences the cells. Traditionally, these data have been collected using a technique known as spent media analysis. However, the level of detail that can be obtained using spent media analysis is fundamentally restricted. This presentation illustrates the impact of a multi-omics analysis, utilizing proteomics and metabolomics, in the development and optimization of media—with the goal of improving titer, and making development and manufacturing more efficient.

Learning Objectives

  • Review the evolution of medium design for cell culture bioprocessing
  • Develop an understanding of the benefits of applying a ”multi-omics” (proteomics and metabolomics) workflow approach to medium design
  • Explore case study examples of how data-science-based modeling systems were created to help predict titer and product quality outcomes
